Tormented by dreams and visions from an early age, Emily Dunhurst battled her way through childhood, missed the excitement of teenage years, yet still managed to arrive in her twenties with some shard of sanity.

But, when the Angel of Death appears at her grandmother’s bedside, Emily’s world is remolded in pain and worry. Her ability to see otherworldly creatures is the only way to stop the Creator’s Servant—and save her family.

However, Emily soon finds out that angels are hard to stop.

ANGEL OF DEATH

exclusive excerpt

“As a child, she assumed it was a curse. Angelic or demonic creatures ventured into her room and into her mind. The early decades of the twentieth century were unkind to disturbed children. But, where most people saw a lost cause, Kathleen found strength in her dreams. She learned to keep her the apparitions to herself, acting as if they all went away. They never went away. They became clearer, stronger, and more real.

Kathleen lay in bed, sliding her fingers along a rosary bead, whispering in the dim light. Despite her son’s plea for her to use the bedside lamps, Kathleen much preferred to use two candles.

Each new creature that appeared was a blessing to Kathleen. While not all of them were easy to look upon, she felt a certain privilege when souls from other worlds manifested themselves for her viewing, the spirits were on show for her and no-one else. Years passed by and the visions kept coming, but Kathleen’s life meandered on without significance. Could her gift just be a freak accident? Did it mean anything? The wind gusted outside in time with Kathleen’s heaving chest as she quenched the candles on each side. Closing her eyes, the last bead slipped between her fingers and her whispering stopped.

A sloshing sound caught her ears, making Kathleen turn to the window, yet its unfamiliarity made her heart beat faster. Many times she had heard the stomping of other-worldly creatures as they crossed the divide between celestial planes—this was different, this was human. A faint voice echoed from downstairs. In an instant, Kathleen recognised the delicate cry: Emily?”
