Queen of contemporary writes Scream meets YA? Y’all aren’t sleeping on this one, right? We were lucky enough to get a PARTIAL ARC (which is the most frustrating thing when you are waiting to find out the big reveal – it’s like stopping the movie as they pull the mask off!) and are left hanging. While we all wait till the end of September, we thought we’d theorize the who and the what.
WHO IS THE KILLER AND WHY ARE THEY DOING IT?
Here are some of the tropes of killers in books…And our thoughts around which one it MIGHT be.
The least expected – It’s totally one of the main characters, right? Right. They’re the most impacted so it’s like OMG WHAT when it’s unveiled. I’d be pretty sad if Makani and Ollie were the culprits…but that would be pretty sneaky on Stephanie’s part.
The obvious choice – There’s a little hint partially through the book of who it could be. But is it? No, usually this is to throw people off. Or is it…
The random side character you’ve met once – Wait, who? It’s like The Sixth Sense where you go back and read to see what you’ve missed. This is always the least satisfying for me.
The unnoticed secondary character – They’re there but not super in your face. Sometimes it’s even one of the murdered, coming back from the dead in some capacity (they were never really dead, etc).
