If You Love Amid Stars and Darkness, Than You’ll Love ___! with Chani Lynn Feener
Strangely, I don’t read a lot of sci-fi, so giving book recommendations is a little hard. I enjoy the genre in most other forms of media, and have found a few sci-fi books that I’ve also liked. It’s weirdly just not my go-to genre, so writing this book was interesting and a new experience for me.
If you’re a fan of Amid Stars and Darkness, however, you might be interested in checking out Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series. While it takes place on Earth, and not an alien planet like with ASAD, the world building is phenomenal, and the characters are quirky and sarcastic.
For TV—I do watch a lot of sci-fi—Roswell has always been one of my favorite alien shows. It only lasted three seasons, and aired a while back, but the plotline was amazing and the characters were complex and really drew me in. It’s about a group of royal teenage aliens who were sent from their planet in order to protect them. Of course, they end up falling for a couple of humans along the way of the show, while also dealing with members from their planet seeking them out. Another short lived show you might be interested in checking out is Star Crossed, because it also deals with the relationship between humans and aliens. There’s a human girl dealing with her feelings towards an alien boy, much like Delaney does in regards to Ruckus. Both of these shows take place on Earth, but their circumstances and world building feel so unique.
If you’re looking for a movie, I would suggest Jupiter Ascending. While, personally, I feel it would have been better if extended, the multiple twists and turns in this movie are great. It’s gorgeous to look at, and the society created is fascinating. There are explosive fight scenes, potential kidnappings, and even a spoiled royal—like Olena. The main character, Jupiter, who is played by Mila Kunis, needs to decide who she can trust throughout the movie, something she has in common with Delaney. Also, there’s Channing Tatum so, enough said.
