I am always on the prowl for a new audio romance that will keep me entertained and when I had seen the rave reviews that AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT by Tara Sivec was receiving I knew I had to try it out and I was not disappointed. In fact, I don’t think I have laughed this hard while listening to a story as I have with this one.
It all starts off with Cynthia Ella trying to get her life back together after her husband runs away with the babysitter. In order to keep up with appearances Cynthia denies the fact that her husband has left but the reality of his departure is only too real when the bills begin to pile up and the neighbors create their own gossip as to why he has not returned home in months. But this stay-at-home, PTA mom is about to use her desperation to propel her into a career she could have never dreamed of, when she along with her two new acquaintances, Ariel and Belle, are mistakenly invited to a party as strippers. They quickly realize that this mistake could be the answer to all their financial problems. What then ensues is pure hilarity and smexy times as these three navigate the way to becoming the naughty princesses that are sure rock your world.
Ok! This premise sounds completely insane but it totally worked for me.Cynthia, Ariel and Belle are strangers that quickly become the best of friends and I thoroughly enjoyed how these three empowered one another to strive for something more. Their interactions were so incredibly hilarious and I could not get enough of the wickedly dirty dialogue that had me in tears from laughing so hard.
“You will tell me everything about why you walked over here an hour ago just to talk business and suddenly I find you riding him like Seabuscuit. Hashtag, never forget. Hashtag, ride this pony. Hashtag, you’re a dirty slut”
Lmao! seriously how could you not laugh at dialogue like that. Don’t get me wrong. I adore Cynthia but Ariel is the one that stole the show for me. She has the best lines and I cannot wait for her story that will arrive after Belle’s. I enjoyed how Tara was able to create a story of female empowerment while keeping me in stitches and engrossed with this trio and making me impatiently wait for the next two novels in this series and believe me I AM EAGER for more. She is broken me….

The audio for this book was very upbeat and it worked out beautifully for the Cinderella theme. C.J. Bloom did a fantastic job of keeping the energy going with this book and keeping me in stitches with her comedic tone and timing. I was engaged with this story and completely taken in and did not want to stop listening to it.
This is a must listen to all rom-com junkies and really anyone that wants to be entertained by a story that is wicked fun and smart. The audio is spot on and I cannot recommend this audiobook enough.
