Once I began reading Blackbird of the Gallows I was pleasantly surprised by how fast I took to the story. I love the lore of this new world and how It was deftly crafted. All bases were covered and I could not seem to get enough. Then let me tell you how much I adored Angie and Reece…oh my Reece. I love a boy that is full of mystery. It melts my butter and that boy has it in spades. Just wait until you read it and you will totally understand.

Meg Kassel has created a richly atmospheric world with Blackbird. It is lush in its descriptive prose so much so that you can feel the buzz of bees reverberate through to your core and the eyes of the ravens at your back. Once I began reading this book I could not stop and all I wanted to do was close out the world around me and sink into this book, it’s characters and storyline and stay there until every last word was consumed and I was not disappointed.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone that craves a romance with dark edges and a bit of adventure that makes you want to leave the lights on.

A simple but forgotten truth: Where harbingers of death appear, the morgues will soon be full.

Angie Dovage can tell there’s more to Reece Fernandez than just the tall, brooding athlete who has her classmates swooning, but she can’t imagine his presence signals a tragedy that will devastate her small town. When something supernatural tries to attack her, Angie is thrown into a battle between good and evil she never saw coming. Right in the center of it is Reece—and he’s not human.

What’s more, she knows something most don’t. That the secrets her town holds could kill them all. But that’s only half as dangerous as falling in love with a harbinger of death. picture13-9120760
